There is nothing like photographing your little sister’s childhood friend’s baby to prove how old you really are.
It was lovely to meet Ryla and Yakov’s new baby Sheelo who is just a cutie. The new parents are clearly having a wonderful time taking care of their little girl. She is so amicable and quiet. My sister had told me that her cry is like a kitten which made me a little jealous as my baby sounded more like an angry lioness. I didn’t even get to hear the kitten cry as Sheelo did not make a peep as we changed her outfits and posed her for two whole hours. I had a lot of awake time to photograph her which was lucky as she has amazing eyes and long curly lashes that are just priceless in a portrait.
As cute as the waking photos turned out, I am quite pleased with the sleeping image in the basket with the newly budding spring branch. I felt a little guilty pulling it off a live tree in my backyard but it was due for pruning anyway. I also got to use the “girl color” shabby chic flags that my friend Janine made for me. I love the colors and patterns even more than the other brighter unisex one.
I wish Ryla and Yakov all the best and look forward to photographing Sheelo as she grows!
